Surface Book 2 rumors: Microsoft set to release the device on Oct. 27; laptop to trump MacBook Pro 2016's specs

Now that Apple has confirmed earlier rumors that it's going to host an event on Oct. 27 to unveil its latest Mac products, a royal battle between laptops seems to be imminent as Microsoft is also holding an event on Oct. 26 to launch various of its Surface products, including the highly anticipated Surface Book 2. However, even before the two products are unveiled, it is already said that Microsoft has already won the battle as its Surface Book 2 trumps the MacBook Pro 2016 in more ways than one.

After weeks of speculation, Apple has finally confirmed that it is, indeed, hosting an event on Oct. 27 to unveil its Mac products, including the MacBook Pro 2016. On the other hand, it was also reported that Microsoft sent out invites for its Oct. 26 event as early as the first week of October.

While it is said that the upcoming Microsoft event will be a venue for the company to unveil its all-in-one Surface PC, which will be pitted against Apple's iMac, it is also suspected to reveal its newest laptop, the Surface Book 2.

However, this early, it is already said that the Surface Book 2 will have an upper hand against its rival, the MacBook Pro 2016. While it's true that both devices are expected to be thinner than their current versions, it is said that the clear advantage of the Surface Book 2 is that, once more, it will be a hybrid of a laptop and a tablet, just like its predecessor.

It is also alleged that the Surface Book 2 will come with the Intel seventh-generation chip, the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, and will pack a battery that can last up to 14 hours of use.

The MacBook Pro 2016, on the other hand, is rumored to only offer Intel sixth-generation chip, the Intel Core M, and a battery that can only last for 10 hours.

Meanwhile, despite the rumors on Microsoft possibly unveiling the Surface Book 2 on the 26th of this month, there are some who can't help but be skeptical whether it will really happen. After all, as the Surface Book 2 is rumored to pack Intel's newest chipset, the Intel Kaby Lake, which has just been shipped recently, the device may be revealed next year in time for the update on Windows 10, otherwise known as the Redstone 2.

Will the Surface Book 2 really be unveiled next week? Will it really be better than Apple's MacBook Pro 2016?

Gadget aficionados can only wait and see.
