'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution' characters, news: Akuma from Capcom's 'Street Fighter' is the only character crossover for now, says Senior Game Designer Michael Murray
Many fans were shocked when they saw the news that Akuma, a character from the popular fighting game "Street Fighter" from Capcom, is now crossing over to another popular fighting IP, "Tekken 7," as part of an upcoming update called "Fated Retribution." Unfortunately, according to Senior Game Designer Michael Murray during his interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, he is the only character that will crossover into the game.
Murray then continued to explain why Akuma is the only character they have in mind right now in terms of crossing over, "[Game Producer Katsuhiro Harada] and I have always been against guest characters because it kinda throws off the Tekken world and setting."
"But Akuma fits the bill, and we wanted to tie him into the story so that the crossover is not some cheesy gimmick. The feedback is really positive," he added. "But no plans at the moment for additional crossovers, though we are open to the possibility in the future."
The announcement about Akuma's crossover to "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" was first released earlier last month, after the end of "The King of Iron Fist" global tournament for "Tekken 7," according to Shoryuken's report.
Akuma will use all of his famous moves that were based on the fighting title "Street Fighter" like his own version of Ryu's Hadouken called Gohadouken, his whirlwind kick called Tatsumaki, the famous Goshoryuken, and his special ability called Wrath of the Raging Demon.

Unfortunately, the trailer did not reveal any hints regarding the release date of "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution." However, according to a GameSpot report from last year, the game is only set to be released in Japan for the arcade version. Luckily, though, it was said there that this title is now in development for the PlayStation 4 platform but it will only become available in Japan as well.
