2017 Kia Sportage news: Pricing for sporty fourth-generation crossover starts at $23,885

Kia Motors America (KMA) has announced pricing for the 2017 Kia Sportage. The all-new Sportage will be offered with a lower starting price compared to its competitors but will come with more standard features.

The fourth-generation Sportage offers customers a crossover with a very appealing design with intelligent features and very engaging driving dynamics. The crossover will offered in three trims – LX, EX and SX Turbo.

Pricing for the base LX trim with a front-wheel drive (FWD) starts at $22,990. It comes standard with LED daytime running lights, chrome surround for windows, rear privacy glass and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the crossover comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen display with a rear camera and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5-inch LCD cluster and keyless entry.

The 2017 Kia Sportage LX FWD is powered by a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder engine that delivers 181 horsepower and mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. The crossover comes with three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sport.

Customers can also opt for additional features. With the LX Popular Package ($1,000), the LX gets heated seats and outside mirrors, upgraded seats and roof rails. The Cool and Connected Package ($900) brings in automatic climate control and the new UVO 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Next, the EX trim with FWD will be offered with a starting price of $25,500. It comes standard with the Cool and Connected Package, leather seat trims, push button start, 18-inch wheels, fog lights and a gloss black exterior trim.

The EX Premium Package ($1,900) comes with a heated steering wheel, power-folding mirrors and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.

The EX Technology Package ($2,700) comes with an upgraded infotainment system with an 8-inch display, navigation and the Harman Kardon audio system. Safety features include parking assist, lane departure warning system, high beam assist, front collision warning system and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Finally, pricing for the flagship model, the SX Turbo, starts at $32,500. It comes standard with a 2.0-liter engine that delivers 240 horsepower. The crossover also features larger front brakes, a sports-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust pipes and a unique front fascia. The top-tier trim also comes with the EX Technology Package.

Inside, there is a 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster, metal pedals, a D-shaped steering wheel, paddle shifters and dashboard stitching.

On all three trims, customers can choose to add $1,500 to avail of the Magna Dynamax all-wheel drive system. The AWD models come with a unique front fascia, 50/50 center differential and torque vectoring.

Starting prices mentioned above will incur an additional $895 for destination charge.
