2017 Opel Mokka X news: Sporty SUV making its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show; previews the upcoming 2017 Buick Encore

Opel has just unveiled the 2017 Mokka X – a new sub-compact SUV set to make its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The next-generation Mokka X SUV comes with newly designed exteriors and interiors, an expanded powertrain lineup and a newly developed infotainment system. The newly introduced Opel SUV also previews the upcoming 2017 Buick Encore.

Like its 2012 predecessor, the 2017 Mokka X comes with a bold and athletic design. The front fascia showcases Opel's new signature design language. The elegantly sculpted front fascia comes with a wing-shaped horizontal grille, sharp Adaptive Forward Lighting LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The Mokka X, with distinct SUV proportions, also comes with a wide and masculine stance.

The 2017 Mokka X will be offered in two vibrant exterior colors – Amber Orange and Absolute Red.

Interiors are simple yet sharp and elegant. The dashboard comes with the same layout as the upcoming Opel Astra hatchback. The instrument panel also comes with a more horizontal and streamlined design. The newly developed IntelliLink infotainment system will be available in two variants, specifically with either a  7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen display. The next-generation infotainment system will also be offered with Opel OnStar Services and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The 2017 Mokka X SUV will be powered by a 1.4-liter Direct Injected turbo engine that delivers 152 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. It engine is equipped with Start/Stop technology and will be available with an all-wheel drive system.

Advanced safety features include Traffic Sign Assistant, Following Distance Indication, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

The 2017 Opel Mokka X will be available for purchase by Fall 2016. It is expected to arrive in the U.S. as the 2017 Buick Encore towards the end of 2016. The 2017 Buick Encore will be introduced next month at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
