At an event held last week in New York City, Acer showed off a handful of devices coming to the U.S. for the very first time, including a new phone called the Acer Liquid X2, which is a combination of the company's first phablet and its first phone with three SIM card slots.

Acer has confirmed that the Acer Liquid X2 smartphone sports a 5.5 inch HD display and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor, but has not indicated if it will use one of Qualcomm's Snapdragon CPUs. The Acer Liquid X2 smartphone packs a 13-megapixel front as well as rear camera with an f1.8 aperture, a massive 4,000-mAh battery and three SIM card slots.

The company has not yet revealed the complete specifications of the Acer Liquid X2, including which Android version the smartphone will run. But the new phone comes packed with a number of Acer's own software designed to improve on Android, as well as interact with the company's other products.

The Acer Liquid X2 includes a set of customizable digital switches, which show up through a vertical cutout in the handset's official Quick Touch flip case. The switches can be used to quickly turn on the camera, launch different apps, play games, access music controls, weather, time and other functions, such as battery life, without opening the case.

The Acer Liquid Z2 looks a little thicker than the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Apple iPhone, but is slim enough to fit into the pocket. The smartphone's triple-SIM support and 4000mAh battery makes it ideal for frequent flyers travelling across multiple countries and staying away from the mains for days. Acer has not yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the Acer Liquid Z2 for the U.S. market, but has confirmed that the smartphone will first arrive in Asia starting August.
