Ever since Nvidia announced its high-end GTX 1070 and GTX 1080, the world has been waiting for the arrival of the Radeon RX 480 which is based on the Polaris 10 graphics processing unit architecture. Earlier this month, these cards were unveiled, and as per schedule, the Radeon RX 480 is due for release in the latter part of June.

Reporting on the arrival of the Radeon RX 480 graphics cards, Forbes states that they have already been claiming the attention of the public and analysts based on their benchmark scores. It also goes on to add that very little is known about the Radeon RX 480, which is scheduled to release on June 29 but its benchmark scores are already arriving. Commenting on the latest benchmarks that were released for the graphics cards, Forbes also says that the card is churning out good results, especially considering the $199 price tag it is going to retail at.

More importantly, Forbes goes on to state that while the benchmark results have not indicated that the graphics card tested was the Radeon RX 480, the core clock quoted in the specs match. These benchmark test results, as soon as they were spotted, were reported on extensively by a number of sites and there are indications that they are accurate. The benchmark tests on 3DMark also appear to show that PCs running the Radeon RX 480 along with a Core i7-4770 processor from Intel achieved a high score of 14,461 which indicates that they will be VR-ready.

Also, the benchmark results indicated that the new Radeon RX 480 built on the Polaris 10 architecture are outperforming the Radeon 390 and GTX 970 cards. This means that the upcoming graphics cards are going to appeal to the masses while the GTX 1080, which has a much higher price tag of $600, will appeal to gaming enthusiasts. AMD has also made it clear with the pricing of the Radeon RX 480 graphics card that it is not planning to take on Nvidia high-end models and is instead aiming for a larger chunk of the market place.
