AMD Radeon RX 400 series will go up against NVIDIA GTX 1080 on June 29

(AMD)The AMD Radeon RX 400 series will be released this June 29.

California-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will be unveiling its AMD Polaris graphics processing unit (GPU) to the American market before the month ends and they project that it will go up against NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card.

Reports suggest that compared to NVIDIA's shipment to stores of its GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, AMD will top that supply 25 fold, which could mean trouble for the former.

NVIDIA said that its latest GPU were sold out quickly. The GPU maker even showcased a founder's edition of the GTX 1080 that were sold at a steeper price. AMD, on the other hand, will now check the consumer's reception toward its new GPU. If both consumers and tech critics respond on a positive note, then AMD can expect the same fate as to what NVIDIA's GTX 1080 experienced. Moreover, AMD's latest GPU will be sold at a much affordable price compared to NVIDIA's, and the said influx in sales would be more likely to happen if consumers will consider affordability without compromising quality.

In addition, AMD's Polaris, also known as the Polaris 10 XT (RX 480), will be sold together with two more GPU models. These are the Polaris 10 Pro (RX 470) and the Polaris 11 (RX 460) and all three models are under AMD's RX 400 series that will be launched on the 29th of this month.

However, there are reports that some computer stores in the United States are getting the Polaris GPUs ahead of time. Some tech merchants will be selling the said GPUs a day before the launch, while there are a few who already have the Polaris GPU and started selling it to lucky customers.

Meanwhile, reports say reviews were already made by some early users of AMD's GPU about the graphics card's performance, but these have yet to be confirmed.

As aforementioned, the AMD Radeon RX 400 series will be out June 29.
