Android N release date news: Samsung devices to get OS update in 2017?

(Google)

A lot of Android fans were surprised when Google launched the new Android N's developer preview before the Google I/O conference. Since the new Android operating system is now available as a public beta version, users are wondering when the full build will rollout on their devices.

While nothing has been set on stone yet, Google only hinted that the final build of the yet-to-be-named OS will be available in late summer. According to PC Advisor, there's a big possibility that the Android N will be available in September and will come straight out of the box with the new 2016 Nexus phones.

With that said, other Android devices are expected to follow shortly. For Samsung users, however, the release date may not happen sooner. It's been known that Nexus is always the first in line to receive a new Android OS. Samsung may be a leading company in the smartphone industry but in contrast to Nexus, the South Korean-manufactured phones have always been known to receive updates late.

It took about five months before Samsung was able to update its devices to Android Marshmallow when it was released and a lot of tech aficionados believe that this trend will continue with Android N.

Given Samsung's reputation of untimely updates, it's widely speculated that Android N will rollout on its devices in the first quarter of 2017. In that case, it might be a long wait before Samsung users will get to experience the fresh features from the new OS. These include optimized performance, improved security and overall productivity.

Android N is reportedly fast, thanks to the JTI compiler that reduces app installation time by 75 percent. The highlight of the update is the Direct Reply feature that allows users to enter their replies for emails and messages via the notification bar.

Given the exciting new features and improvements that come with Android N, Android device users are already excited for when the final build releases.
