Samsung smartphones, phablets and tablets aren't exactly well known for being among the earliest adopters of new Android operating systems. Will things finally change with the Android Nougat OS set to roll out soon?

If recent history is any indicator, then the answer to the previous question would be a resounding "no."

When it came to the Android Marshmallow operating system for instance, Samsung owners in the United States had to wait for just a little over five months before they were able to finally enjoy all the benefits that came with the OS upgrade.

Understandably, Samsung's less than stellar record when it comes to getting new Android operating systems has led to people lowering their expectations.

Android Authority even indicated that the best case scenario for the Android Nougat rollout would be Samsung devices receiving the update five months after its initial launch, meaning owners should not expect to see the new OS until around February or March.

Still, there may be at least some semblance of hope that the latest version of the Android OS may make its way to Samsung devices even before the calendar turns to 2017.

According to a recent report from Sam Mobile, there's a chance that Android Nougat could indeed be made available to certain flagship devices located in specific regions before the end of the year, though even then, only a few Samsung owners may be lucky enough to receive the update.

The vast majority of Samsung device owners may still have to endure the long wait yet again for the new Android operating system.

At this point, Samsung managing to roll out the Nougat update before February or even March of next year would be a welcome development, though device owners may want to temper their expectations.
