Apple iOS 8.3 update is available now; jailbreak for 8.2 will be coming later

(Reuters)

While Apple's latest iOS 8.3 had already been released, a potential jailbreak for the iOS 8.2 is still under development. A jailbreak development team called TaiG shared via a post at their website that they are making headway in providing support for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.2 but declined from revealing specific details regarding their project.

Following the latest iOS 8.3, TaiG indicated that development on the iOS 8.2 jailbreak is facing some difficulties but shared that they are still hopeful to release a version of it soon. The TaiG team had previously completed a jailbreak for the iOS beta 1 and 2 versions, but Apple was quick to close off the exploits and render the jailbreak ineffective.

Apple had also patched a jailbreak for the iOS 8.1.3 and a newer one has not been created since. Would-be jailbreakers have since refrained from updating their devices with iOS 8.2 and now with the newest iOS 8.3 update. It remains to be seen how long a jailbreak for either versions will come out, but Apple's response to the recent jailbreaks have been on point. Future jailbreaks will most likely be responded to with the same kind of tenacity.

As for the iOS 8.3 update itself, it addresses a number of performance issues that caused a myriad of problems for iPhone and iPad devices. The update should improve the overall user experience for most users but as with the case for all updates, a series of new issues could potentially crop up in the future. For now, however, there have yet to be an influx of reports pertaining to new bugs after application of the new patch.

Aside from the performance fixes, iOS 8.3 also includes a redesigned Emoji keyboard that has more than 300 additional Emoji. Users also have the option of altering the skin tones for various Emoji, a welcome addition for users of all races.
