As the expected birth month of Apple iPhone 6 nears, rumors and challenges loom over the most anticipated gadget of the year.

The new iPhone will reportedly feature VoLTE, or Voice over LTE technology.

An August job ad on the Apple website seeks a protocol engineer with hands-on experience in wireless technologies, including VoLTE and IMS.

Just recently, Wall Street Journal mentioned that Apple iPhone 6 will showcase a more durable and scratch-proof sapphire screen.

This development, however, could mean that the price will inevitable be higher.

One of the identified setbacks has to do with the delay brought about by the demand to redesign a key component within a very tight timeline.

Suppliers are now scrambling to secure enough screens for the assembly of the new iPhone 6.

According to Reuters"Two supply chain sources said display panel production suffered a setback after the backlight that helps illuminate the screen had to be revised, putting screen assembly on hold for part of June and July."

The report continues, "One said Apple, aiming for the thinnest phone possible, initially wanted to cut back to a single layer of backlight film, instead of the standard two layers, for the 4.7-inch screen, which went into mass production ahead of the 5.5-inch version."

Cupertino-based Apple, Inc., has scheduled a September 9 media event, which many believe will be the platform for the launch of two iPhone 6 models (4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display), iWatch and a new lineup of iPad.

Speculations that a launch will happen before the holidays were made stronger following a statement from one of Taiwan's most trusted finance persons.

"Taiwan's economy in the second half of this year will not necessarily be affected by global factors due to the release of iPhone 6," said Tsai Hung-kun, a director of the Directorate General of the Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).

The new iPhone will go against some tough competition in the market, with LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and HTC One M8 for Android and Windows versions.
