The Apple Watch, which was announced in September 2014 and released last year, is due to be refreshed. But as expected, Apple has not made public any details about it. However, with the company's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 scheduled to kick off today, many are hoping to see the Apple Watch 2 being unveiled.

A few months before WWDC 2016 was due, the speculation about the Apple Watch 2 arriving during  the event started. Since then, even though many analysts have stated that Apple is only going to concentrate on software and not bring out any hardware during WWDC, the buzz about the next generation watch has refused to die down. Now, with WWDC 2016 starting in a few hours, many websites are pointing towards Apple at least announcing some news about the Apple Watch 2 or even unveiling the device. These websites are also indicating that manufacturers in China have started working on it and the first batches of the watch would become available in the market during the third quarter of the year.

Since the third quarter of the year starts in July, it is likely that Apple could be planning to unveil the device during the WWDC 2016. Earlier this year, during an event in March, Apple brought out new straps for the Apple Watch but since then there have been reports that fewer developers are creating apps for it. This scarcity of new apps could indicate that developers are waiting for the Apple Watch 2 to arrive to start developing new ones.

As for the new hardware and features that the Apple Watch 2 could release with, there are rumors that it will have a FaceTime camera. Also, there are expectations that it will have cellular connectivity and therefore users will be able to receive and make calls from the device independent from the paired smartphone. Finally, there are hints that the health sensors on the device will be improved, along with the processor.
