Apple Watch 2 release date rumors: New watch to debut this September with iPhone? Thinner watch with LTE expected

Apple was expected to unveil a new iteration of its smart watch line in March this year, but since the company didn't, speculation is rife that the Apple Watch 2 might make its debut this September.
Reports mentioned that the Apple Watch 2 will launch alongside the iPhone 7 supposedly in September. This rumor appears to be supported by Quanta chairman Barry Lam, according to Yibada. Quanta was behind the manufacture of Apple Watch units in 2015 and it is expected that the company will return once again to produce the next iteration.
As for what the next Apple Watch will be, rumor has it that this watch will be 20 to 40 percent thinner than its predecessor. This thinner design is reportedly possible through the rumored microLED display that will be featured instead of the OLED screen. If Apple will indeed push through with this feature, the smart watch is expected to be more pricey since the microLED technology is also expensive.
It has also been long rumored that Apple Watch 2 will have connectivity features. This means that the smart watch will be independent of the iPhone. Originally, Apple Watch can make calls or send text messages when it is connected to the phone via Bluetooth. This will reportedly change and analyst Canalys predicted it to be likely for the Apple Watch 2.
This feature won't be the first as Samsung and LG have already dominated in this field with the Gear S2 and Watch Urbane, both of which have their own LTE connectivity. This rumored feature of the Apple Watch 2 has not been confirmed so it remains to be seen if the new watch will no longer depend on the iPhone. However, if this is true, Apple Watch 2 will surely fare well in the competitive smart watch market as fans have always wanted a smart watch to have its own connectivity.
