Apple's entire Apple Watch stock to be delivered within the April 24 launch day timeframe was officially sold out less than 6 hours after pre-orders began at 12:01 AM Pacific Time (PT) on Friday, with shipping times for all models now at 4-6 weeks or later. Apple's website now states that all models of the Apple Watch are expected to ship in "June" indicating that the company's entire initial stock was sold out in about six hours. Buyers visiting the Apple Online Store were disappointed to find out that all Apple Watch models appeared to have been sold out and won't be available for at least the next four to six weeks. According to some reports, the Apple Watch was largely sold out within the first 10 to 30 minutes, depending upon the model.

At 12:01 a.m. PT (3:01 a.m. ET) on Friday, Apple began taking preorders for all of its three Apple Watch models in various markets. But just 10 minutes after midnight, the shipping date for the black Apple Watch Sport was already showing as mid-May, which was soon pushed to late May. By 12:40 a.m., the Apple Watch Edition, which is the most high-end among all the three models, showed July as the ship date for the rose gold variant and August for the yellow-gold model. By 8:30 a.m., the yellow-gold version with a red buckle and the rose-gold case with a matching buckle were no longer available for sale and were completely sold out.

Even the try-on appointments for the Apple Watch were in high demand, as shoppers who tried signing up for appointments on early Friday morning for trying on the watch at Apple's retail stores found that all Friday appointments had been booked by 8 a.m.

Apple had earlier said that it expected the demand for Apple Watch to exceed its supply after launch, though the number of devices that has been made available for pre-orders by the company is not yet known.
