Apple MacBook Air 2016 release date rumors: Apple might phase out MacBook Air series in coming future, according to tech analysts

Tech analysts have recently shared some of their thoughts and observations on one of Apple's most popular line of devices, the Apple MacBook Air. According to their analysis, there's a possibility that Apple might put a stop to the production of their laptop series in the coming future.

According to the report from Mac World earlier this month, Jan Dawson, the Chief Analyst at Jawdaw Research, suspects that Apple might eventually make the MacBook Air series obsolete.

"This wasn't the MacBook Air, but instead leaped past the Air," Dawson said via Mac World. "The kept [the MacBook Air] around just as they do with older iPhones, but the MacBook is now in the same position as the newest iPhone. That makes me wonder if the Air will go away over time."

Carolina Milaseni, chief of research and head of U.S. business for Kantar WorldPanel Comtech, had also shared her views on this matter and she mentioned that a couple of factors to consider here are the mobility and portability of the device.

"All [notebooks] need to be more mobile, so something like the Air doesn't need to be branched out anymore," Milaseni said via Mac World. "And it's to Apple's benefit not to have so many 'families' of Macs."

Despite the phasing out analysis from the two analysts, rumors are still quite active with regard to the possible release date of Apple's next laptop, the MacBook Air 2016. As reported on Yibada, rumors have suggested that the tech giant might release the new Air laptop this coming Black Friday 2015 at the earliest and sometime December at the latest.

The date is a bit farfetched, however, considering that there is still no word from Apple. As for the most plausible timeframe estimation, Mac World reports that the MacBook Air 2016 will most likely be released in spring of 2016 considering the past release dates of April 2014 and March 2015.

Needless to say, since Apple still hasn't released official comments or statements about the claims, its best to take this one with a big pinch of salt for now.
