Computex, Asia's foremost tech exhibition held in Taipei, got off to a great start with local powerhouse Asus grabbing all the attention by unveiling the ZenWatch 2, its second Android Wear smartwatch. The ZenWatch 2 has become the first Android Wear smartwatch to offer a choice of sizes, allowing users to choose between the ZenWatch 2 (WI501Q) with a 49mm-tall stainless steel case and an interchangeable 22mm strap, or the ZenWatch 2 (WI502Q) with a 45mm case and 18mm strap. Both the variants have a watch face dimension of 49x41mm and 45x37mm, respectively

ASUS had unveiled the original ASUS ZenWatch at last year's IFA, but the smartwatch is now being superseded by the ZenWatch 2, which is water and dust resistant, marking a signficant improvement over its predecessor. The original ZenWatch had an IP55 rating, while the ZenWatch 2 comes with an IP67 rating for greater water submersion protection.

The ZenWatch 2 is powered by a Qualcomm processor and sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 AMOLED display. According to ASUS, the new smartwatch has been crafted with a "stylish and detail-focused design" and has been built upon the original ZenWatch, but comes with new functionality. The ZenWatch 2 comes with a metal watch crown that gives users "a new way to interact" with the Android Wear.

The new smartwatch features an enhanced Remote Camera to allow wearers to display their smartphone's camera viewfinder on their wrist. The ZenWatch 2 also functions as an activity tracker and health-and-wellness manager for better health and lifestyle management. Other exclusive features packed in the new smartwatch include deep ZenUI integration and FoneHelper.

The ZenWatch 2 comes with instantly-changeable software watch faces that allows wearers to create their own custom watch faces in the new Watch Face Land app. ASUS has also built a new magnetic charging connector in the ZenWatch 2 that will reportedly "dramatically improve recharging times." Both the models of the ZenWatch 2 come in silver, gunmetal, and rose-gold finishes, with rubber, leather, and metal straps. ASUS has not yet announced the availability and pricing of the ZenWatch 2.
