AT&T has just announced that they are offering iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus beginning Sept. 19 with $0 down on AT&T Next or $300 in trade in value when trading in an iPhone for existing customers.

"Millions of iPhone customers have chosen AT&T since the very first iPhone was brought to market. Congratulations to Apple on another incredible, innovative launch," said Glenn Lurie, President and CEO at AT&T Mobility.

Lurie added, "When you combine our best-pricing, the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network, and a service experience that leads the industry, iPhone customers who choose AT&T win."

The US carrier also confirmed that it will be supporting the Wi-Fi calling feature included in the iPhone 6 starting sometime in 2015.

The support will come as a complement to voice-over-LTE or VoLTE and 3G voice, according to Ralph de la Vega, head of AT&T's new mobile and business solutions unit.

Meanwhile, reports have stated that iPhone 6 Plus is currently sold out on pre-orders, and that there is a possible delay in the next shipment of the units.

Paradoxically, this is good news for Apple, and for the carriers as well.

"Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible, with a record number of pre-orders overnight. Pre-orders are currently available online or through the Apple Store App," AT&T spokeswoman Trudy Muller said.

Lurie agreed, adding, "This is our biggest Phone, preorder launch day ever."

Among all the U.S. carriers, AT&T has been Apple's longest running partner since 2007.

It may be recalled that it took other telco companies three years (2010) until they could distribute iPhones from their turf.
