Will fans finally be given their first look of "Battlefield 5" at the upcoming EA Play event?

At this point, the next installment of the "Battlefield" franchise is probably among the most eagerly anticipated titles from EA, so it would seemingly make sense for the publisher to announce it soon in the hopes that the ensuing hype will translate to sales later on.

It's worth noting, however, that EA already has an announced lineup for the upcoming event.

As can be seen on their official web site, the gaming giant currently plans to show off "Titanfall 2" along with three other sports games at EA Play.

Noticeably absent from that announcement is "Battlefield 5," but that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be showing up at the event either.

EA has also indicated plans to share even more news at both EA Play events that will be taking place in Los Angeles and London, leaving the door open for a potentially surprising announcement.

With the event also running for three days in Los Angeles, it also seems as though there is more than enough time for EA to fit in an announcement about a particularly sought after title.

Hopefully, EA will provide more details about the upcoming event closer to its starting date of June 12.

Going back to "Battlefield 5," in absence of official details from EA, the rumor mill has supplied fans with some interesting bits of information to chew on.

For instance, late last year, an IMDb listing for something known as "Battlefield 5: Armageddon" was spotted online and it included a Nov. 23, 2016 release date for the video game. The listing has since been taken down, though Gamezone managed to save a screenshot of it.

Earlier this year, Reddit user "KoXin" also shared some images that may or may not be related to the rumored game.

One of the images indicated that the upcoming game was set to be revealed on June 12, which also happens to be the first day of EA Play.

Unfortunately, with official information about "Battlefield 5" still unavailable, it may be a while before players truly find out when it will be coming out, though they may want to stay tuned to EA Play just in case.
