"Black Sails," the popular pirate series on Starz, has been in the middle of filming season 4, and now, production is coming close to being finished.

The information came from Toby Stephens, who plays Flint in the series, via his Twitter account. He also said that it was a "long, tough shoot" but the fans will definitely love the result of their hard work.

He also mentioned in another tweet how proud he is to be part of the series and said that the next season will really be mind-blowing.

Given the way how season 3 ended, Stephens could be right. It can be remembered that the finale episode of the third season showed one of the biggest battle sequences where the slaves and the pirates take on the British on land and sea.

Meanwhile, Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, executive producers of "Black Sails," also revealed in different interviews what fans should expect in the next season.

They confirmed that Silver will be explored more deeply in the next season, including his relationship with Flint. They said that Silver's character will be much more intense.

Another duo that will have a lot of screen time and be given more focus on the next season is Black Beard and Long John Silver, considering that they are the most famous pirates in history.

The duo also revealed that Madi will become more relevant in the "Black Sails" narrative, while Max and Eleonor are two characters who remain the biggest characters in the series.

However, if fans are expecting Mary Read to be part of season 4, they will be very disappointed because she will not be part of the ensemble. Levine said on Inverse that they would love to have Read become part of season 4 but they already have a large cast.
