Action role-playing game 'Bloodborne' is scheduled for an exclusive PS4 release date next year, and Sony Computer Entertainment is now sending out invites for a closed Alpha Test.

"Your skill and dedication have been recognized, you have been selected for a chance to join the exclusive Bloodborne Alpha Test!" a parcel of the email invitation reads.

The small-scale test is conducted to gather community feedback and data on how the Bloodborne online gaming experience is developing.

"It's not clear what criteria is being used to select alpha testers, but there is speculation that invitations have been issued to those that have earned platinum trophies in any of the Souls games (such as Dark Souls)," IGN reports.

Those who did not receive an email may still enroll through the PSN website.

Bloodborne is still in the development stage at From Software, the same studio responsible for hit series Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

The game is set in the Victorian era where players will have to search for answers within the ancient city of Yharnam.

Yharnam is cursed with an endemic illness that spreads at a staggering rate through the streets and corners of the city.

Aside from the cinematic setting, Bloodborne boasts a strategic action combat with rare artilleries.

"Armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets," the official website teases.

The game has received rave early reviews from E3.

"Bloodborne may have many of the systems that make the Souls games amazing experiences underneath the hood, but on the surface there's a slick coat of blood that makes this PS4 exclusive look like a tantalizing treat when it arrives next year," Daniel Track of Game Informer commented.

The Bloodborne release date is scheduled exclusively for PS4 on Feb. 6, 2015.

Pre-orders are already on-going.
