The development for the next Gearbox game, "Borderlands 3," is expected to start anytime soon, as studio CEO Randy Pitchford had previously announced on his Twitter that the company is now looking for new team members for the next title.

This might come as a surprise to some fans as the company is also planning to release its most recent IP project, "Battleborn," this May 2016. With that in mind, it would seem like the workforce in the studio will need to be divided for the two IPs, and presumably, this is where the hunt for new developers comes in where they will work on "Borderlands 3" while the others will continue on "Battleborn."

Meanwhile, Gearbox, along with its deal with Lionsgate and Arad Productions, is now making a game to film adaptation of "Borderlands."

Pitchford, during his interview with GameIndustry.biz, has expressed his enthusiasm with the project. He is hoping that this move will help the franchise expand, and help spread the awareness for the game with the help of father and son tandem, Avi and Ari Arad.

"I trust those guys a lot. Ari and Avi Arad are great. And Ari really wants to be the guy to figure out how to make good video game movies," Pitchford said.

Making a film adaptation is hard, most especially if it concerns a game, whether it's a popular one or not. Luckily, though, Pitchford has high hopes that Arad Productions can pull this one off, most especially with Avi's track record of successful Marvel films.

"He figured out how to make comic book movies that are really fun and do right by the franchises that are really engaging and entertaining for large audiences," Pitchford explains. "That gives me a lot of hope that working with them we can figure out a good film."

Unfortunately, Gearbox has yet to offer any kind of update regarding the development status of "Borderlands 3" or even the "Borderlands" movie. With that in mind, the best thing to do now is to wait for more news coming from the studio regarding the matter.
