Fans of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" will have to wait another year for the sequel to be released to make way for another movie, "Naruto Shippuden: The True Legend of Itachi."

Boruto is one of the two children of the popular character Naruto and Hinata Hyuga. His sister's name is Himawari Uzumaki. The movie centered on the beginnings of Boruto as a warrior. He initially did not understand why his father spent more time being a Hokage than being the head of the family. He asked Sasuke to train him and in one of the matches he entered was disqualified by Naruto on grounds that he has cheated.

Naruto is thought to have died while protecting his family but he was later discovered to be living in another dimension. Boruto helped in saving his father and eventually, they worked on their father-and-child relationship.

According to reports, "Boruto: Naruto the Movie 2" will still revolve around Boruto's adventure but another character, Uchicha Sarada, will play a major role in the plot.
Orochimaru was shown after the end credits of the first movie. This could mean that the sequel involves him as the main antagonist. Orochimaru is known for his quest to find the way to immortality. His apprentice, Sasuke Uchicha, helped train Boruto.

At the New York Comic Conference (via The Anime News Network), Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto was asked about his inspirations in creating mangas and he mentioned "Boruto" movie as being loosely based on the relationship he has with his own sons. When asked about how he passes time while not making mangas, Kishimoto shared that whenever he is on break from work, he makes an effort to make time for his family and his health. He revealed that he undergoes weight training and that he indulges in jogging.
