Brooklyn Nets trade rumors 2016: Chances of being dealt increase for Brook Lopez?

Center Brook Lopez is back in the rumor mill because he is seen as one of the few valuable players the Brooklyn Nets have that they can dispose to add quality pieces as they rebuild their team.

Undoubtedly, Lopez is the face of the franchise for the Nets. However, with him, they are yet to achieve significant success. Last season, they had their worst campaign since transferring to Brooklyn as they finished with a 21-61 record, missing the playoffs for the first time in four years.

In a report by the New York Post's Brian Lewis, he suggested that perhaps the best move for the Nets is to part ways with Lopez during the regular season's trade period since through this, they can get their desired assets.

Lewis added that the potential takers for Lopez are contending teams that are seeking for a big man.

In ESPN's report, the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers were mentioned as squads that may be interested in Lopez's services.

Lopez can have an impact on any organization he becomes a part of. For his entire career, he averaged double-digits in scoring and that continued in the 2015-16 season. During that run, he was recording 20.6 points, with 7.8 rebounds, two assists and 1.7 rejections per game.

But as seen with the Nets, Lopez might be better as a member of someone's supporting cast rather than being the piece to build around on for a franchise.

If the Nets pursue a trade for Lopez, they are likely seeking for a replacement at the no. 5 position, together with a group of young talent/s and future draft picks.

Finding business partners for Lopez is expected to be easy for the Nets since as mentioned, there are squads that want a center who can help them contend in the 2016-17 season.
