Chicago Bulls trade rumors 2016: Blake Griffin moving to Windy City?

The Chicago Bulls went from a rebuilding team to instant contenders following the acquisition of veteran guards Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. Now, they might add one more piece to better their championship hopes and could target the Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin.

(Reuters/Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports)Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin might join the Chicago Bulls via trade.

For the past few weeks, Griffin has been in the rumor mill which is a little surprising since he is still considered as one of the faces of the franchise for Lob City. The 27-year-old was already linked to a number of teams like the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers among others.

However, those squads may not be the ones landing Griffin if ever the Clippers decide to part ways with him. The Bulls, who are considered a top team in the Eastern Conference, may end up walking away with the five-time All-Star.

Wade's arrival in Chi-Town made the Bulls relevant again after they lost Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah earlier in the off-season. They have a great chance to contend and this is a major factor for players when they are being moved to a different team.

Likely, if Griffin is leaving Los Angeles, he would love to be part of a winning franchise and the Bulls could be that in the upcoming season. A lineup led by him, Wade, Jimmy Butler, and Rondo would be a formidable force in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Bulls could give up some of their big men if they pursue a deal for Griffin. Names that will pop up in the discussion are Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotić.

Gibson is a veteran who could contribute on both ends of the floor efficiently, given the minutes.

Mirotić is similar to Gibson but is younger, which means there is still plenty of room for improvement.

However, because Griffin is a certified star, it will take more than one player for the Clippers to give him up.
