Chicago Bulls trade rumors 2016: Established All-Star given up for young guns?

Since the Chicago Bulls showed an interest in trading All-Star guard Jimmy Butler in the off-season, the latter never left the rumor mill. Now, a proposed swap will send him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Windy City to welcome the young tandem of Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine.

In the suggestion, Butler is joined by Jerian Grant as they head to Minnesota. The Bulls then receive the man who became  Rookie of the Year two seasons ago and the two-time reigning slam dunk champion.

To many, this is a bad trade for the Timberwolves. Indeed, Butler is an All-Star and an explosive scorer, but some might say he is not worth sacrificing two young talents who have great potential.

But if the Bulls can pull this off, they are hitting two birds with one stone. They are looking to win now, while also bracing for the future.

Wiggins and LaVine are young but they are already capable of recording good numbers on both ends. They can be key pieces for a squad to put up a great campaign and maybe have a deep run in the postseason. Along with this, since the two are just  21 years old, they have ample time to establish themselves, and in the long run, be the new faces of a franchise.

It would be interesting to see Dwyane Wade guiding Wiggins and LaVine in Chicago. The three will be the core for the Bulls to build a championship-contending team around on.

But as mentioned, the Timberwolves are expected to strongly pass on this one if ever it was presented to them by the Bulls.

Butler may quickly make Minnesota significant again and a playoff team. However, this will put to waste years of hard work trying to find the right prospects to assemble a unit that brings success in the future.
