Cleveland Browns trade rumors 2016: wide receiver Josh Gordon garnering interest from teams?

A number of teams have reportedly asked the Cleveland Browns regarding the availability of wide receiver Josh Gordon. But both him and the team have no plans of parting ways as of the moment.

(Reuters/Jason Getz/USA TODAY Sports)Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon (12) gets pushed out of bounds by Atlanta Falcons defenders after a catch in the first quarter of their game at the Georgia Dome.

Gordon has faced suspension after suspension but despite this, the Browns are keeping him, perhaps because of the team's faith in him and he aims to repay them with loyalty.

"Cleveland is my team. That's where I want to be, everything like that. That's not even in the ballpark for me. I'm not sure how that works," Gordon said, according to a report by ESPN.

The Browns added Gordon in 2012, and in his first two seasons in the National Football League (NFL), he was doing great even getting selected to his only Pro Bowl during the 2013 season.

Troubles started to pile up for Gordon in the 2014 season when he saw action in only five games due to a ban which was a result of an arrest. In the 2015 season, the 25-year-old did not play a single game because he was penalized for violating the NFL's subtance abuse policy.

For the 2016 season, Gordon is going to miss Cleveland's first four games due to another ban.

The rumor that a number of teams are interested in Gordon is a bit surprising considering what he did in the past few years. His consecutive violations and mishaps should be major concerns for any organization trying to trade for him.

Along with this, because Gordon did not grace the field in the 2015 season, it is unknown if he can still perform at a high-level.

But if these teams are really targeting Gordon this off-season, it means they are willing to gamble just to add a catcher to their roster. It is a huge risk acquiring a player who always gets himself into trouble.
