Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Does Dan Gilbert need more tweaks moving forward?

One team that is likely to remain the same moving forward in the NBA is the Cleveland Cavaliers. With commitments to players like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, the Cavs are not expected to be in the running for prime NBA players who will be made available in the free agent market.

The only thing that could change that would be a blockbuster trade which it doesn't seem to hint at right now, although Love has been often criticized for his inconsistent play and a straight up trade with other center-forwards of the same caliber is the likely way to go.

Other than that, adding more key players is unlikely. The Cavs have practically used up their team budget despite looming increases in the coming years. But that allowance will likely be eaten up with some of its players on short-term contracts.

Leading the pack is no less than LeBron James, who is likely to command a bigger paycheck after this season if he opts out of his current deal. The belief is that James will indeed opt out but for him to sign a bigger deal.

How about these other players like Timofey Mozgov, J.R. Smith, Matthew Dellavedova, Richard Jefferson and James Jones?

Of the mix, Mozgov is most likely the player that the Cavs would let go. He has been the subject of trade rumors due to his lackluster play. With no trade partner showing, the Russian center will likely be signed up by another team unless the Cavs opt to still pick him up.

For the other players, it may depend on the deals that the Cavs dangle to them. James could be in the picture as well, believed to be someone who has been telling Gilbert who he wants to be retained.

And the new names? All that would depend on what the team does moving forward. Trades are the easiest route but unloading them without no one in return is pretty unlikely.
