Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors 2016: Sixers' Nerlens Noel to improve frontcourt?

Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel's inclusion to trade rumors is not slowing down and now he is being linked to the reigning National Basketball Association (NBA) champions Cleveland Cavaliers.

So far, the major moves the Cavaliers accomplished this off-season are trading for guard Mike Dunleavy Jr., assuring that franchise superstar LeBron James is going to re-sign and inking center Chris Andersen and head coach Tyronn Lue to deals. Aside from these, last season's title-winning core remains intact, although the team is yet to resolve its contract problem with guard J.R. Smith.

More likely, the Cavs will stay the way they are until the 2016-17 season opens or will try to add a few more pieces.

If the Cavaliers make moves, one they can consider is trading for Noel.

Currently, Cleveland has two true centers in Tristan Thompson and Andersen. Channing Frye can also play at the position but often sees action as a power forward.

Thompson is expected to secure the starting job and Andersen will be his backup. Andersen is already 38 years old although he can still produce good numbers once given minutes. However, having a Noel at the no. 5 position is a major upgrade for the Cavs.

Last season, Noel improved on his offense and emerged as one of the best rim protectors in the league. If ever the Cavaliers go for him, they will have a second stringer at center who can also take on the starting duties.

A report by Sports Illustrated's FanSided (King James Gospel) suggested a potential switch for the Cavs if they are aiming to add Noel.

Cleveland might give up guards Iman Shumpert and Jordan McRae to acquire Noel, together with Carl Landry ("if they (Cavs) want" according to the report).

That seems a great deal for both squads since it will address some of the roster issues they are facing, especially for Philly which is crowded at the no. 4 and 5 positions.
