'Dark Souls 3' release date news: ESRB listing provides more hints on gameplay and storyline

Fans are now getting a better idea of what they can expect from the upcoming action role-playing game (RPG) known as "Dark Souls 3."

Thanks to a short summary about the game provided by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), fans can now learn more about its storyline as well as some of its gameplay offerings.

According to the listing, the game, which has been given the mature rating by ESRB, enables players to take on the role of an undead character who is about to face numerous challenges.

As the undead characters, a players will be tasked with making their way up the ranks of Lothric in an attempt to establish themselves within this realm.

Players will then square off with a number of fiendish creatures as they continue to make progress inside "Dark Souls 3." Enemies such as demons, skeletons, and even zombies will attempt to stand in their way. Beyond those foes, there will also be larger, more sinister opponents that players will also have to defeat if they want to succeed inside the game.

In order to thwart the advances of their nefarious foes, players will be able to make use of different weapons such as swords and arrows. Players will also be able to use different kinds of magic to help defeat their enemies.

With the diverse selection of weapons and attacks, players can choose to either be close-range combatants or square off against their enemies from a distance.

Depictions of blood and shrieks of pain can also be expected from the upcoming action RPG.

The "Dark Souls" franchise has also been synonymous with producing some of the hardest games available, and the third installment is expected to continue that tradition.

"Dark Souls 3" is expected to be released in Japan later this month, while players in other parts of the world can expect it to be made available in April.
