Denver Broncos roster rumors 2016: Free agent veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick asking too much?

The New York Jets are not the only ones experiencing difficulties in signing free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick as the Denver Broncos, who are interested in him, are having doubts regarding his pay demand.

Fitzpatrick was the Jets' starting quarterback last season and helped the team have a winning year despite not making it to the playoffs. However, reports say Fitzpatrick's salary request is too high and along with the Jets, Denver is also experiencing this issue.

The Broncos, who are the defending Super Bowl champions, are suddenly seeking for quarterbacks after Brock Osweiler agreed to join the Houston Texans.

Osweiler did a splendid job last season as the starter in their last seven regular season games, with Peyton Manning sidelined due to a foot injury. Because of this, the 25-year-old quarterback was expected to replace the recently retired Manning; that did not happen as Osweiler headed to Houston.

The Broncos already have a quarterback in veteran Mark Sanchez whom they acquired via trade deal from the Philadelphia Eagles a few days ago.

However, the Broncos still need another quarterback to compete with Sanchez for the starting job when the off season preparations begin.

Fitzpatrick would be a great addition since for the majority of his career in the National Football League (NFL) he is a legitimate starter. Last season, as the Jets' main passer, the 33-year-old quarterback had 335 completions for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns, also throwing 15 interceptions. Fitzpatrick's total passing yards and touchdown tally during the previous season are career-bests.

That is impressive from a seasoned veteran but because of his reported desire to have a lucrative salary, the Broncos will likely play the waiting game and see what the Jets plan to do regarding Fitzpatrick.

The Jets already had contract offers to Fitzpatrick but he turned them down, according to reports.
