'Destiny 2' release date will not happen next year: what to expect

Recently, most news pertaining to the game "Destiny" has been associated with the upcoming "Rise of Iron" expansion which is due to arrive this year on September 20. A massive segment of gamers however are awaiting the release of the sequel in the form of "Destiny 2," but as of yet, it has not gotten a concrete release date.
PC Advisor states that the rumors about "Destiny 2" have been subdued over the past week or so as all attention has shifted to the massive "Rise of Iron" expansion. During the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo which is currently underway, the news about the sequel to the game has also remained scarce. However, gamers and analysts have been hoping that the last day of the conference, which happens on June 16, will see more details about "Destiny 2" finally emerging. They are also hoping that among the information, there will some gameplay or images from the sequel.
Earlier this year, it was thought that "Destiny 2" would arrive on schedule by September of this year. However, by February, developer Bungie and publisher Activision announced that it had been delayed. At that time, the release date of the game was pushed back to 2017 and since then, no other official news has been provided to gamers. More importantly, last month, additional news surfaced that the game had been rebooted and this could have been the reason for its delay until 2017.
When news about the reboot emerged, it was thought that it became necessary because of organizational changes within Bungie. As part of this reboot, the game's development is now headed by Luke Smith who had previously worked on "The Taken King" expansion. However, even after this news surfaced, gamers hoped that new footage would be released from "Destiny 2" in the coming months and the game would probably release in the first quarter of 2017. Meanwhile, those gamers who are waiting for new content will have to make do with the "Rise of Iron" expansion and remain satisfied until next year.
