'Destiny 2' release date to be announced after 'Rise of Iron' launch?

"Destiny's" new "Rise of Iron" expansion is almost here, and while many fans are undoubtedly excited about its arrival since it is adding plenty of new features to the game, some may also welcome its release since it may be the last thing Bungie needs to check off before their focus fully shifts to "Destiny 2."
Following the release of "Rise of Iron," there may still be some updates heading to "Destiny" over the next few months, but none of them are expected to be as big as this expansion.
Earlier this year, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg already confirmed that the "majority of the team at Bungie" is already working on the sequel, IGN reported, so the release of "Rise of Iron" should only serve to free up even more developers to work on the new game.
Hopefully for fans, the release of "Rise of Iron" also means that they will finally learn about a valuable bit of information related to "Destiny 2" sooner rather than later.
That valuable bit of information is the sequel's release date, because as of now, both Bungie and Activision haven't really offered much in the way of specifics.
Way back in February, Bungie confirmed that the sequel is due out next year, and things haven't changed at all since then.
2017 remains the very broad estimate for when "Destiny 2" will come out, and understandably, fans want a more narrowed-down timeframe for its arrival that they can look ahead to.
It's not just a more specific release date too, as fans are also eager to find out exactly what Bungie has planned for the next game in the series.
Players want to hear more about the different gameplay changes that could be featured in "Destiny 2," and hopefully, Bungie will be able to deliver more specific details sooner rather than later.
