Activision Blizzard Inc intends to spend 0 million developing and promoting ''Destiny,'' potentially breaking industry records as it seeks to build the sci-fi role-playing videogame into its next multibillion-dollar franchise.

Bungie's 'Destiny' has gone gold, which means discs are being prepared in time for the scheduled September 9 release date.

"Destiny is Gold. Discs are being pressed and packed into crates. Destiny is done, in some respects. Even now, so close to the end, it still feels like we're just getting started," the official press release said.

Days before the Destiny release date, Bungie will be hosting a panel to interact with fans through the PAX event happening on August 31st.

"Bungie will discuss the challenges that surround launching a brand new game and keeping it in orbit. Join them for a look back at how they built this brave new world, and a look forward at how they intend to keep it packed with action that can engage and surprise for a long time to come."

Design Lead Luke Smith will be the moderator of the panel, that will feature Technical Art Director Ryan Ellis, Design Lead M.E. Chung, and Engineering Lead Luke Timmins.

Destiny will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 consoles.

The massive beta program, which launched in July, provided fans from around the world a chance to experience the game firsthand.

Of course, there has been changes made from thereon to enhance the gaming experience.

After all, Activision gave the entire Destiny team a $500 million budget, so the game better be at least as mind-blowing as its development costs.

Meanwhile, the departure timing of Destiny's writer could not have been more odd.

Joshua Rubin has announced via his Twitter account that he will be moving on to venture with Telltale's upcoming Game of Thrones video game set.

It might be recalled that the initial GoT RPG game was quite unsuccessful, due to its lack of story and depth, and perhaps the bar being set so high after the hit television series.

To bring awareness to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Bungie also accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with a Destiny-inspired outer space twist.
