'Destiny: Rise of Iron' release date in September 2016; legacy consoles no longer supported

(Destiny)The new "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be released this September. However, it will no longer be available to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Washington-based game developer Bungie will be giving "Destiny" fans another reason to enjoy the game a lot more as it unveiled another downloadable content (DLC) to the game, titled "Rise of Iron." However, the developer said that the expansion will no longer be available for old consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Gamers who own these game consoles will have to get PlayStation 4 or Xbox One's "Destiny: The Taken King," in order for them to enjoy the forthcoming expansion come September. All they have to do is to perform a so-called account import through the PlayStation Network for PlayStation console users, and the Xbox Live for Xbox console users.

Furthermore, Bungie already posted the news on its website last June 24. They stated that beginning from that date, they said that they will consider the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as Legacy Consoles. They even mentioned that if players wish to continue playing "Destiny," the developer said that they have to level up their current console. It seems that they're suggesting players to purchase a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One console.

Bungie further explained that they always aim to serve better the "Destiny" fans through the updates that they've been dishing out. They said that they'd still carry on in helping "Destiny" fans who opted to continue playing using their legacy consoles. The developer even made a list of information to direct these players on what to do.

The legacy console users may still continue playing "Destiny: The Taken King;" however, these players are no longer eligible for future expansions, future events of the game, silver and Eververse purchases, and access to Bungie.net.
