The massive multiplayer shooter Destiny's next DLC expansion is called 'House of Wolves', and while details for the pack is still limited at this point, there is a sense that Bungie, the game's developer, is hard at work in ensuring that 'Wolves' will reinvigorate the Destiny experience for old and new players alike.

Luke Smith, a designer at Bungie, shared in an article at Cinema Blend that their first DLC pack 'The Dark Below' had critical design flaws that created negative play experiences for many players. He cited the flawed loot system as being one major issue. "Our philosophy about rewards and loot continue to evolve as we see how players play and react. We will continue to improve acquisition stories and frequency, lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster," he said.

While the loot system was somewhat improved in succeeding updates, Smith explained that the Exotic Shard mechanic remains an area of concern. "Shards are a barrier between you and equipping a sweet new piece of gear. We want fewer barriers to equipping upgrades. The shard economies erect these barriers between players and the new piece of gear they just got," he said.

As to how this issue will be addressed, if at all in 'Wolves', is still unknown, but the developer's awareness of the current situation should help players feel more at ease.

In terms of content, the 'Wolves' DLC will add a significant amount for players to explore. This includes brand new story missions, strikes, raids, crucible maps, and locations. The release date is slated sometime in the second quarter of this year, according to a post at the official Bungie blog.

A few more DLC packs are in the works following 'Wolves', after which the first expansion entitled 'Comet' will be released.
