'Diablo 4' release date, rumors: New job openings at Blizzard hint at possibility that sequel may be in the works

(Battle Net)Could 'Diablo 4' already be in development?

Earlier this year, rumblings about "Diablo 4" possibly being in development began to circulate online after fans spotted a particular job posting over on Blizzard's web site.

Specifically, the job posting notes that Blizzard is apparently looking for a game director to helm an unannounced "Diablo" project.

The job listing even notes that the game director will be tasked "to lead the Diablo series into the future."

As it turns out, Blizzard is looking for more than just a game director for their unannounced "Diablo" project.

Visiting Blizzard's careers page reveals that the developer is apparently looking to hire more than just a game director for their new "Diablo" project.

For those who may be interested, Blizzard is apparently searching for a new animator, senior animator, senior character artist, senior concept artist and senior VFX artist to all work on this unannounced "Diablo" project of theirs.

With so many vacancies still seemingly yet to be filled, whatever this unannounced project turns out to be, it may not be introduced officially for a while.

Still, fans may be willing to endure a potentially extended wait for as long as they are able to get that sequel that they have wanted to see for a while now.

In the meantime, fans still have some new content to go through in the currently available "Diablo 3."

Just recently, Blizzard even shared some new details regarding Patch 2.4.2, an upcoming game update that adds new difficulty levels, user interface tweaks and other changes.

An exact release date for Patch 2.4.2 has yet to be shared, though it is expected to arrive sometime in the near future.

With any luck, fans will be hearing more about something than just game patches in the near future, and perhaps they will also find out once and for all if that unannounced "Diablo" project really is "Diablo 4."
