'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date rumors: Will players have to wait until this October?

(Fallout 4 official web site)Still no release date set for 'Fallout 4's' PS4 mods

Originally expected to come out in June, the wait for "Fallout 4's" PS4 mods have now extended all the way into August, and there's still no clear indicator of exactly when the delay may officially end.

As of now, all that Bethesda has officially said about the mods is that the process of making them available remains "under evaluation."

Beyond that, there remains no official timetable for the arrival of the new features.

Recently though, Tech Times brought up something interesting that could hint at a possible release window for "Fallout 4's" PS4 mods.

As the website noted, "Skyrim: Special Edition" – a remastered version of the previously released "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" – is set to be released this October for multiple platforms including the PS4, and interestingly enough, it's another Bethesda game that also promises to offer mods.

Since "Skyrim: Special Edition" isn't due out for a few months, it's entirely possible that Bethesda's issues with the PS4 will be over by then and the mods will already have been released for "Fallout 4," even before the remastered game hits store shelves.

Of course, as Tech Times mused, it's also entirely possible that the mods will be made available for the PS4 ports of both games at the same time.

That pessimistic prediction probably represents the worst case scenario for "Fallout 4's" PS4 mods, but unfortunately, given how unclear the situation still is at the moment, it can't be ruled out either.

In the past, Bethesda has already outlined some of the issues with the PS4's mods, citing problems with audio file support, textures and storage limits. Those are not minor issues, and they could take quite some time to fix, enough so, that again, an October release is plausible.

For now, PS4 owners can only hope that the wait for the mods won't have to last that long, and that one of these days, those elusive mods will finally make their way to their version of "Fallout 4."
