The upcoming "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is expected to be different from the original in at least a few ways, though chief among those changes may be potential character additions.

Since the release of the original game, Square Enix has expanded the "Final Fantasy 7" universe to include stories about other characters and there may be a chance that some of those recent additions are also featured in the remake.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase touched on the topic of spin-off characters potentially being added to the remake.

According to Kitase, not all of the spin-off characters will likely be featured in the remake, though he did note that if the setting was right, then they could very well decide to feature one of those additional characters there.

Given Kitase's comments regarding spin-off characters potentially being included in the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," there would seem to be more than a few instances wherein the spin-off characters could be featured.

For instance, Zack Fair, who was the hero of "Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII," could be prominently featured in the remake.

It's worth noting that Zack is not exactly a pure spin-off character since he was mentioned and even appeared in the original, though his cameos then were very short.

In the original game, Zack was referred to a few times by Cloud and some of the other characters, and players even visit his hometown of Gongaga Village at one point.

There's even a secret sequence that players can view near the end of the game wherein they can learn more about Cloud and Zack's friendship.

The opportunity to feature Zack even more in the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" certainly seems to be there, so it would seem that a bigger role could be given to him.

Even if Zack's "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" cameo ultimately turns tragic, some fans may still be happy to see one of Cloud's old running buddies become a more prominent figure of the upcoming game.
