'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' rumors: Will the next development update be shared later this year?

(Square Enix)More details about the 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' could still be provided before the end of the year

It's been a while since Square Enix last talked about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," long enough that the time is seemingly right for a new update to be provided," though whether or not additional information will be shared anytime soon remains unclear.

During an earlier interview with Famitsu, game director Tetsuya Nomura provided a bit of an update, sharing that the remake's development is still progressing steadily, adding that more details may be provided in the not-too-distant future.

Unfortunately, Nomura did not share exactly when those additional details may be relayed to the fans.

That's pretty much been the norm for fans waiting to hear more about the remake throughout this year.

The last time anyone from Square Enix talked at length about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" was when producer Yoshinori Kitase answered some questions about it during an earlier interview with Game Informer.

Unsurprisingly, fans would like to learn more about the remake, but should they expect additional details to still be provided before the end of the year?

For what it's worth, it does seem as though Square Enix will need to talk more about the game sooner rather than later.

With "Final Fantasy 15" already due out this November, the gaming giant will soon need to get fans excited about a different, upcoming title, and few games, if any, can manage to do that as well as the eagerly anticipated remake.

Recent history is also on the side of those hoping Square Enix will provide more details about the remake prior to the end of 2016.

A gameplay trailer for the remake was first released during the PlayStation Experience event that took place last December, and Sony has already announced that the next installment of the event will again be held later this year.

Nothing's set in stone just yet, but those seeking more details about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" may want to tune in to the PlayStation Experience event again this December, just to make sure they don't miss out on anything.
