Nintendo has confirmed the release window of Square Enix's Final Fantasy Explorers for Nintendo 3DS, with a Japan release date this winter.

There is currently no word from the Japanese video game developer of a FF Explorers launch outside Japan, but it does look as if there will indeed be a localization in other languages, including English.

Final Fantasy Explorers is an action role-playing game with both singleplayer and multiplayer features, of which the aim is to defeat various generations of Summons.

The game allows the player to play as one among several different character jobs, such as Black Mage, Monk, Knight and White Mage. Furthermore, gamers can also pick from many various weapons and Summons.

The Final Fantasy Explorers website announced players will start the game as Freelancers. In the game, they will be tasked with subduing foes and magical creatures, Summons to collect materials for crafting equipment.

These materials will be essential in the crafting system featured in the game to create weapons and armors. Swords, axes, bells, gloves, spears, rods and staves are already confirmed as weapons.

The Final Fantasy Explorers website says local wireless and Internet multiplayer will also be available in the 3DS game. Players will utilize a chat system featuring preset text messages while online.

However, there is no official announcement yet with regard to possible use of the microphone or other forms of communication.

While fighting Summons, gamers will then search for crystals. Just like in previous entries in the Final Fantasy video game franchise, Explorers lets players choose and level up their character jobs.
