'Final Fantasy IX' for PC news, release date: Square Enix secretly releases 'FF9' on Steam

Fans were taken by surprise when they found out that the much-awaited PC port for the popular PlayStation 1 game from Square Enix, "Final Fantasy IX," has arrived and is now available on Steam — without any kind of heads-up.
The nostalgic game is now available on the PC with a price tag of $16.79. "Final Fantasy IX" is currently on sale with 20 percent off of its original price of $20.99. The special promotion for the PC version is going to be available until Apr. 20.
"Final Fantasy IX" for the PC will come with the original contents and features like the compelling story of Zidane and Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, who is soon to be called Dagger after her abduction; the item combination feature to create an even powerful equipment called Synthesis; the Trance state that is similar to "Final Fantasy VII" Limit Break; and the ability learning system.
Of course, since this is a new port for the game, several new additions to its set of features have also been added. To be more specific, fans will receive a new set of Steam Achievements, the autosave feature, and a cloud saving option. The character models and cut scenes in the game have also gone through some changes, and it is now in high-definition to cope with today's standard when it comes to quality.
The game also offers a much faster way to finish the IP called the seven boosters that includes an option to increase the game's speed, no encounter mode, and others more. This new feature was added specifically for the players who want to just relive the story of "Final Fantasy IX" and not go through the complete game.
"Final Fantasy IX" is now also available on the mobile platforms Android operating system and Apple's iOS for the price of $20.99 on their respective mobile stores.
