'Five Nights at Freddy's 4' teasers contain haunting subtitle message that has fans guessing

(Scott Hawthorne)Five Nights at Freddy's fourth installment would be released Halloween 2015

Scott Hawthorne, a popular game developer, has confirmed the release of the fourth and final installment of "Five Nights at Freddy's" on his website earlier this May.

"Five Nights at Freddy's", whose setting is loosely patterned on the popular chain restaurant Chuck E. Cheese, centers on Mike Schmidt, the night security guard at the fictional pizza restaurant Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The main objective of the game is for Mike to survive his midnight to 6am shift without being attacked by the animatronic animals that come to life as soon as the restaurant closes down for the day.

So far, three teasers have been showcased on Hawthorne's website, confirming that Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie and, more recently, Chica would be featured in "FNAF4". The teasers show the most terrifying versions of the animatronic animals to date, with sharp claws and teeth, along with a haunting subtittle message, "Was it me?".

Since the release of the teasers, reddit users have been trying to decipher what the message could mean. Speculations of the message being related to the infamous Bite of 87 have left fans convinced that the incident will be featured in the upcoming game.

Other theories about the game's fourth run have surfaced online, keeping fans guessing as to where and when the new installment would take place, and whether or not the gameplay would change.

The most well-thought out gameplay theory comes from Dawko, a "FNAF" fan, who posted this on his youtube account:

"..players may have to defend against one large Freddy as well as the three miniature versions that climb out of his body. Because the foes are smaller, it will be a lot harder to spot them than a full-sized beast like Springtrap. It will force guards to watch every camera very closely, intensifying the jumpscares when they happen." said Dawko.

Apart from the characters, nothing about "Five Nights at Freddy's" fourth installment has been confirmed. It seems like fans will have to wait until the game's release on Halloween 2015 to find out.
