Peter Cuzner, a former teacher at Daramalan college, a Catholic school in Canberra, reportedly touched a boy — who was 13 or 14 years old at the time — twice, under the pretense of locating a pulse. The incident happened in the '80s, and Cuzner served as the student's commerce teacher and year coordinator at the time.

The victim, now an adult, told the court that he was often sent to Cuzner's office for getting in trouble and that the accused often wore "80's style pastel" jumpers.

"I was sent to [year co-ordinator Cuzner] frequently ... apparently I used to get in a lot of fights, I was the new kid," the victim shared.

He recounted how Cuzner once took him for a drive in his car — a VW Beetle. The accused took him from the Dickson school to the Canberry fair in Watson, where he pulled over at the fair's empty parking lot.

"He pulled up and told me I looked nervous, my pulse was racing," the complainant said. "And he said, 'let me check your pulse,'" he added.

Cuzner checked for a pulse on the boy's wrist and neck. A witness continued the story and provided evidence through a video link from an undisclosed room. The witness said that Cuzner reached under the victim's unbuckled school pants and proceeded to feel for a pulse at the boy's groin.

The witness said that the teacher undid his own pants and said that he would show the victim where to look for the pulse. The accused tried to look for the pulse for several minutes. After the incident, the teacher and the student returned to the school.

The second incident occurred when it was arranged that the victim will go to his teacher's home to do gardening work. After the work was done, the victim said that the accused offered him a shower. Cuzner's wife was not at home at the time.

While the victim was in the shower, the Cuzner allegedly joined him, naked, however, the complainant quickly "jumped out." According to the complainant, Cuzner wanted to find the boy's pulse again.

They both laid on the bed, and the accused reached under the towel. "He was touching my bikini line ... trying to find this vein that is strong enough to read my pulse," the victim shared.

When the witness was asked why he didn't tell anyone about the incident, he replied that "Apart from the massive embarrassment, that this still is ... why would they believe me?" since Cuzner was a school master.

"The accused had no reason to have his hand anywhere near [the boy's] groin," Prosecutor Margaret Jones said in her opening address, emphasizing that all of the touches in question were unlawful.

The trial is still ongoing.
