Galaxy Note 8 rumors: Device to arrive in August 2017, will take on the iPhone 8?

(REUTERS/Kim Hong-Ji)The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be offered as a part of its upgrade program to those who bought the defective Note 7.

Despite having a controversial and notorious predecessor, it is said that there is no stopping the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from arriving in August next year, and the upcoming device may take on the iPhone 8 when it debuts in the market.

Although there were earlier rumors claiming that Samsung would release the Galaxy Note 8 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) happening in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 27 to March 2, 2017, the latest reports claim that the upcoming device will arrive in August next year as its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 7, was released in the same month this year.

Rumors claim that the upcoming Samsung device will be released in the said month because Samsung wants the device to take on the iPhone 8, which is expected to arrive around the same time next year as well.

Nonetheless, it is also suspected that it is still possible for the Galaxy Note 8 to arrive at a later date as the company is still reeling from the effects of the defective battery of the Galaxy Note 7, which has already cost Samsung billions of dollars. In fact, according to other reports, it is likely for Samsung to revert back to a removable battery for the Galaxy Note 8 because of the problems caused by that of the Galaxy Note 7.

Meanwhile, apart from possibly having a removable battery, it is said that one of the things that the Galaxy Note 8 will boast of is its 5.7-inch Quad-HD or 4K Super AMOLED display. It is also said that the upcoming device will be capable of supporting virtual reality (VR) videos and games.

As it has been confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will come with an autofocus (AF) selfie camera feature, there is also the possibility for the Galaxy Note 8 to have the same feature as, after all, the two high-end phones from Samsung are known for borrowing each other's features.

Rumors also claim that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will come with its own heart rate, iris, and fingerprint scanners.

Will the Galaxy Note 8 really arrive in August next year, or will it come earlier?

No one outside Samsung can be certain for now.
