Although Samsung's Galaxy S series has always been pitted against Apple's iPhone, things may be different this year as it is alleged that the South Korean tech giant is gearing its upcoming Galaxy Note 8 to take on the upcoming Apple iPhone 8.

According to the latest reports, Samsung will release its Galaxy Note 8 around the same time of the arrival of the iPhone 8. If this turns out to be true, it may mean that the Galaxy Note 8 may come with really impressive features that it can use against the iPhone 8, much more that iPhone is also expected to take the smartphone battle a level higher as it celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

This may also mean that Samsung is confident that its Galaxy Note series can redeem its tarnished reputation after its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 7, got into a controversy last year because of its exploding battery. Apart from damaging the reputation of Samsung, specifically its Note series, the scandal also engendered huge financial losses for Samsung. Reportedly, the company lost $3 billion approximately as it recalled the said device from the market.

Meanwhile, it is said that one of the selling points of the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 is that it will be the first Samsung device to come with a foldable/expandable screen display, which means that it can be converted into a tablet if its owner chooses to use it for such purpose.

However, if this turns out to be true, the Galaxy Note 8 may not find itself wrestling with the iPhone 8. Rather, it may find itself competing with the alleged Surface Phone, which is reported to boast of the expandable/foldable screen technology, too, after the patent Microsoft applied for and got awarded with leaked online recently. 

At this point in time, everything said about the features of Galaxy Note 8 are just pieces of unconfirmed information that may be true or not. Whatever the truth is on what it will offer, it seems that the Galaxy Note 8 is bent on redeeming the lost glory of the Galaxy Note series of the brand.
