When smartphones are pit against phablets, it is usually the bigger sized devices which come out as winners, however, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and the LG G3, the showdown sees the smaller device emerge victorious.

Design

The S6 Active is not going to win in this category in any way as it has a plastic body with rubber on its sides. This build ensures that the device is extremely durable so it can withstand heat, radiation and rain. It even has an IP68 rating which means it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

As for the LG G3, it also has a plastic body but it comes with a remarkable metallic shine which gives it a high end look, however, unlike the S6 Active, it is not waterproof or dust proof.

In terms of colors, the S6 Active comes in camouflaged blue, camouflaged white and grey, while the LG G3 comes in black, white, gold, violet, red and blue.

Display

The display on the S6 Active is smaller than that on its competitor. It comes with a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 576 pixels per inch. As for the LG G3, it has a HD IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch.

Specs

The hardware of the S6 Active helps it surge ahead of the LG G3 as it comes with the latest Exynos 7420 chipset from Samsung along with an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760 GPU. As for the LG G3, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

The S6 Active, unfortunately, does not have a memory slot while the version on the LG G3 can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the 16 GB LG G3 has 2 GB RAM while the 32 GB model has 3 GB RAM.

Camera

The Galaxy S6 Active has a 16 megapixel camera while the LG G3 has a 13 megapixel shooter with optical image stabilization.

Price

The LG G3 costs $99 with a two-year contract while the Galaxy S6 Active costs $199 with a similar contract.
