The Galaxy S6 Active and the LG G4 Beat are both variants of this year's flagship devices from Samsung and LG, respectively; but it is evident that they were created with different goals in mind. Here is how the rugged version of the S6 flagship compares to the mid-range version of the LG G4.

Design

The S6 Active's body is made of plastic with rubber along its sides, which gives the device extra durability. It comes in three colors, camouflaged blue, camouflaged white and plain gray. Additionally, the device comes with an IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certification which allows it to be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It is also resistant to dust and thermal shock. As for the G4 Beat, it too has a plastic body and its patterned back panels come in three colors, gray, gold and ceramic white.

Display

The displays on these devices are pretty equal in terms of size but the S6 Active has a sharper super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 576 pixels per inch. On the G4 Beat is an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 423 pixels per inch.

Specs

The specs on the S6 Active are much better and are faster. It comes with the same Exynos 7420 chipset that is on the flagship, S6. Along with it is an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760 GPU. Since the LG G4 Beat is a mid-range offering, it only comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1 GHz, along with an Adreno 405 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the S6 Active while the presence of one on the G4 Beat has yet to be announced. However in terms of RAM, the S6 Active is way ahead as it has 3 GB while the G4 Beat only has 1.5 GB.

Price

The Galaxy S6 Active costs $199 with a two-year contract. As for the G4 Beat, it is still unknown but it could be priced much lower as it is a mid-range device.
