Golden State Warriors trade rumors 2016: Klay Thompson on his way out?

Following a disastrous season opener, the Golden State Warriors are starting to win games under the leadership of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Because of the duo's impressive performances together with Draymond Green thriving, Klay Thompson is again starting to be a favorite in the trade rumor mill.

(Reuters/Steve Mitchell/USA TODAY Sports)Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson (11) is pressured by Miami Heat forward Justise Winslow (20) during the second half at American Airlines Arena.

In three games, the players that are emerging for Golden State are Durant, Curry and Green.

Durant is leading the scoring department, also being no. 1 in steals and blocks. Meanwhile, Curry is the second-best scorer for the Warriors.

Green, on the other hand, is on top of the list in rebounding and assists.

It is too early to say but it seems Thompson is losing significance to the Dubs. So far, his best performance in their outings was during their first victory of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans where he listed 28 points.

The other two contests are unimpressive. In the Warriors' 129-100 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, he only had 11 points. In their recent 106-100 triumph over the Phoenix Suns, he just recorded 14.

Perhaps this is the reason why Thompson is frequenting rumors. The 26-year-old is linked to teams that may utilize his services better and make him their main star.

For now, the Warriors are showing no interest in trading Thompson and they are still considering him as one of their key players.

If Golden State becomes successful in this campaign, there is no reason to dispose Thompson. However, if the new lineup fails, then the Dubs might finally consider parting ways with one of their stars and he is likely a top option.

When this occurs, Thompson is expected to find a new squad easily. He is one of the best shooters in the league and is a true star. Unfortunately, as of the moment, he is overshadowed by Durant, Curry and Green.
