Google Nexus 7 2016 release date, specs, features: To be launched at Google Pixel event

(ASUS website)Asus manufactured the current Google Nexus 7, but the rumored 2016 is believed to be manufactured by Huawei.

The much-awaited Google Nexus 7 2016 may be unveiled at Google's upcoming Pixel launch event early next month.

According to reports, Google's newest Nexus 7 2016 device may finally be introduced on the Oct. 4 Google Pixel event. Apparently, Google will no longer use "Nexus" as a branding name for its handheld devices like tablets and smartphones. The company will replace it with "Pixel" instead. So, the next Google tablet could be called Pixel 7 and the smartphones will be called the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL.

Not much is known about the Nexus 7 tablet, but rumor has it that it will boast a 7-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It will also have a Snapdragon 820 processor with an Adreno 530 GPU. The chipset will be matched with 4 GB RAM and a 64 GB storage capacity. As for its camera, it will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera and will also come with the Android Nougat OS.

The Nexus 7 2016 tablet will also be manufactured by Chinese tech company Huawei. The previous Nexus tablet was manufactured by Taiwan-based company Asus.

Meanwhile, the rumored Pixel smartphones have some similarities. The differences would be some specs under the hood and sizes. The Google Pixel, which was code-named Sailfish, will be sporting a 5-inch display, while the Google Pixel XL will showcase a 5.5-inch display. The two devices will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and will run on the brand-new Android Nougat OS fresh from the box.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL may have the same 4 GB RAM, but the former will have a smaller internal storage of 32 GB, while the latter will be getting a whopping 128 GB of internal memory.

Apart from their different display sizes, the Pixel will also be getting 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, while the Pixel XL will sport a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. Both devices may also get a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5,100 mAh battery, better charging features, and USB Type-C port.
