Fans of action cameras are looking forward to the release of GoPro's next camera model, the Hero 5, which is to be released sometime this year. While the company has not confirmed an exact release date, fans are already excited to know when this new action camera will hit the shelves.

GoPro CEO Nick Woodman has already confirmed that the camera will be released sometime in fall, but many believe that it would be in October. Of course, this piece of information is purely speculation.

Being one of the most anticipated gadgets of this year, the GoPro Hero 5 has been the subject of various rumors. If any of them prove to be true, the next action camera should be one impressive device for all adrenalin junkies out there.

So far, GoPro has not given out the details of the camera's specifications, but only described it to be the "most connected and convenient" camera ever made. With that said, it is easy to speculate that this next Hero model will have features that will not fail to impress.

Word has it that the camera will run on an Ambarella H1 processor that gives it the ability to capture 4K videos at a rate of 60 frames per second (fps). There were also reports pointing to a Qualcomm processor.

Meanwhile, ValueWalk has put out a list of some of the features that should be part of the GoPro Hero 5. The report mentioned that the camera should be much lighter and smaller, but still packs a lot of power than its predecessor, which could be a challenging feat.

The GoPro Hero 5 should also include 8K resolution, instead of 4K, for a much more superb video capture. It should also be readily compatible with drones, which have now become the mainstream.

Whatever GoPro has in store for its new camera is something that has been kept under wraps. Fans will know pretty soon what this camera can bring to the table once the company makes an official announcement.
